If you love to cook (like I do) it can get pretty crazy when your kitchen looks as though it was created for Hobbits! Granted, I am seriously not that tall, just topping off at 5’5, but even for me it can get very frustrating. You see, my house was built in 1763 when the main fireplace and chimney in the center of the house was used for not only heating the house, but cooking too. Luckily for me and my family, we now heat the house with oil and cook on a gas stove (which by the way is an antique Chambers stove produced in the late 1930’s early 1940’s) I would love to say I thoroughly enjoy cooking with my Chamber’s stove, but the truth is . . . I hate it!
Anyways, I’m not here to piss and moan about my Hobbit kitchen and dinosaur stove (that weighs about 300 lbs, no joke) well, maybe I am just a little bit, but until I win the lottery and can move into a big house with a kick-ass kitchen, I’m stuck and have to make do with the limited amount of available space I have to create my culinary masterpieces. I often find myself daydreaming about a ginormous, beautiful, kitchen complete with miles of cooking space (well, maybe not that much), a huge wooden island in the center with a sink and tons of cabinets to hold all my awesome cooking appliances (when I get them) and a magnanimous gas stove with extra-large burners, a grill and griddle and a double, extra-large capacity oven! Oh how joyful that would be!
However, just because I cook in a little kitchen, doesn’t mean I can’t or don’t, cook up some awesomely hearty, rib-sticking and certifiably delicious menu items. Just be warned . . . I refuse to allow any margarine, low-fat milk or any other fake/substandard food stuff to touch my bowls or pans. let’s face it . . . I’m French, Native American and Irish and two out of three of those nationalities are, well, great cooks, the other one . . . not so much. I would never want to offend anybody so therefore I will let you decide which one tends to boil the hell out of everything! (sorry mom) and which one’s use real butter, milk, eggs, etc… to create delectable deliciousness!
As I keep adding more and more stupendous recipes to this page, I’m sure there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Even the finickiest of eaters will find something they can munch on! Vegetarian? No problem, every now and then I’ll throw a vegetarian dish in the mix just for good measure . . . well, that and because the father and grandfather (not me, I’m Papa!) of my grand kids are vegetarians. Have any suggestions or requests? If so, drop me a line and I’ll be sure to get back to you!
