It was right after I had undergone my second major surgery to repair a severe spinal cord injury when a ghost nearly scared my wife to death. It’s a night that she will never forget as long as she lives. I was still in the hospital, heavily medicated and hooked up to all sorts of machines and my wife and daughter were at home. Luckily my eldest daughter lives up stairs from us with her family and it gave me comfort to know that if she needed anything, both my daughters were there to help. My youngest daughter also lives near by and could be there in minutes if she needed to be.
First off, my wife does not like being in our house alone . . . ever! It was built in 1763 and is home to ghost’s and spirits that sometimes lie to roam the house and/or play tricks on us. Both me and my daughters boyfriend have seen the same ghost on two separate occasions. She is an elderly woman with long salt and pepper hair wearing an off-white nightgown. She’s harmless, but, she’s still a ghost! Anyway, on this particular night, my daughter was asleep in her room and my wife was sleeping alone in our big bed . . . and she hated it.
About one thirty in the morning, my wife was woken up by the sound of someone in the room singing; “La la la, la, la, la, la, la . . .” Thinking that she may have left the TV on, she sat up to shut it off. Well, the TV wasn’t on! She heard it again, a haunting melody of; “La la, la’s.” It was definitely coming from the room. She jumped out of bed, flipped the light on and . . . nothing! She couldn’t see anyone or anything. Thinking that she may have been dreaming, she went to shut the light off and the singing began again.
That’s all it took and she was out of there like a bolt of lightning. panicked and frightened, she ran out of the room not knowing what to do. She ran into my daughters room, woke her up and told her what was going on. My daughter, thinking my wife is dreaming, gets out of bed and goes with her to our bedroom. Everything was quiet. My daughter was just about to leave the room when the singing began again.
They both jumped and my wife ran out of the room, refusing to go back in there. A minute later my daughter comes out of the room in hysterical laughter. “I found the ghost!” she said to my wife as she took something from behind her back. It was a . . a . . a . . “Furby!” A Furby is a little stuffed toy that looks like a gremlin and when turned on, can and will, talk and sing at random times. It was our granddaughters toy and our dog Chewie must have stolen it and placed it . . .where else . . . under our bed!
My wife was laughing and crying at the same time. That damn Furby nearly killed her from fright! They came to the hospital the next day and told me the whole frightening story and I thought I was going to split my incision open from laughing so hard. needless to say, my wife slept on the couch until I got home from the hospital a few days later. So if you ever hear singing from under your bed at one thirty in the morning, don’t panic, it’s probably just a “Furby” ghost!

As always, Peace, Light and Love to all!
